Moving From Meditation To Visualization

When you learn how to meditate, one of the things you learn is how to balance your mind.  You find out how to turn down the volume on the external thoughts, and how to turn up the volume on your internal thoughts.

This volume adjustment helps us achieve balance, and this balance means we don’t hit such emotional highs and lows because of what happens to us externally.

But what are the internal thoughts we’re turning up the volume on?

There is a way we can learn how to meditate that lets us achieve more than balance.

We can actually shape our mind so that the internal thoughts we turn up the volume on are positive, powerful, and life changing.

We have the ability to take a thought, concentrate on this thought, and allow our unconsciousness mind to absorb it, to actually pull it in from the conscious mind.

This process is not supported by scientific evidence.  Nobody can explain how it happens, but it does, and it has been taking place for thousands of years.

When Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it,” he was sharing a belief proven by his own experiences.

Swami Vivekananda said, “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”

Buddha taught, “All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.”

This process of moving thoughts from the conscious mind to the unconscious mind is one of the skills what makes meditation and visualization so powerful.

A positive thought that takes hold in our unconscious mind and moves us toward our goal can often begin as one simple image.

This image can be a diploma, a beachfront home, a horse, or a healthy heart.  It is specific and it is simple and when it is repeatedly held in the mind’s eye during a visualization exercise, it will soon become absorbed into the unconscious mind.

Once this happens, it tends to become a goal that is easier to achieve.  This is why the ability to be able to take thoughts and plant them like seeds in the unconscious mind is one of the most rewarding aspects of meditation.
